Best Of 90's Britpop - Part I
Well, I thought I would take a stab at this. Like I said before, I like lists - especially the Best Of kind. For me the 90's are kind of a blur (no pun intended) to me. To be honest, I missed out on a lot of these bands and didn't get familiar with them until early 2000. I was married during the 90's and my wife did not have any passion for music which in turn, reflected back on me. I was forced constantly to listen to modern radio and did not experience some of these bands during that time. I probably have ruined my musical cred by admitting this but it is the plain truth. But, I will say it was a real pleasure to experience 90's Britpop even years later.I read a lot of music magazines and a good majority of them are British. One of my favorites is Mojo Magazine. Mojo recently put out a Classic edition called Britpop. And, in it is a wonderful list of 60 Greatest 90's Britpop Albums. Now, I thought I had a good handle on 90's Britpop but it was a real eye opener to me about some great bands that I missed during my catch-up time in the early 00's.So, what I thought I would do is start a series featuring these bands listed by Mojo. Since, I don't have all these albums, I am going to be spending some change collecting them. However, I do have a fair majority of them. This is going to a long series and will be done in multiple posts, probably with a break or two in-between. I still need to finish up my 80's series. This 90's series will be different than my 80's series. For the 80's, I did bands that were formed in a specific year. The 90's series will highlight the year that the album was released. Also, if you have been a regular reader of this blog, you will notice that I have posted some of these bands before (different tracks). However, as we go through this series, you will see a bunch of other Britpop 90's bands that I have never posted before.I could spend tons of posts on each one of these albums individually. But, I do like lists and prefer to present these bands and the music this way. Hopefully, some of you reading this are not familiar with these bands and will hopefully add them to your music collection. I know I will add a bunch to my collection.Therefore, to kick this series off, I will jump around a bit in years and start with the ones I do have in my collection. This will be most likely an eight part series.
