Toronto – Will Animal Collective follow the steps of Morrissey and abandon their fans in the Great White North because we bash a few seals in the head every year? For fans of the band, check out the Peta article on them here.
I sometimes wonder about Peta..it seems like they always go through the efforts and generate a lot of publicity when it comes to killing cute animals, and cute animals only. Like Seals, or dolphins. I guess maybe they have a bad publicity team as they sometimes come off as left wing nutty radicals.
Don’t get me wrong, I love animals (when I’m not eating them). You won’t find a person who watches more nature shows, but somehow the way they go about things is wrong. Personally, I think Peta should go after those frickin KILLER WHALES. Watch this video, and tell me it’s not cruelty to animals:

ATP NY was our favorite festival of 2008, and the only one all three Stereogum staffers attended. The draw? Partially the lineup, of course, but also the fact that it takes place in the hotel that inspired Dirty Dancing's summer of '63 Catskill romance and clearly hasn't been remodeled since said inspiring. (If that doesn't do it for you, the M.C. of the talent show in Whet Hot American Summer worked at Kutsher's. Thanks, Wikipedia.) It's inexplicably great to be able to watch Low perform in a place that looks like the location for a horror movie prom (last year Eugene Mirman suggested the second stage is "where homeless people have Bar Mitzvahs"). That, and the main stage where My Bloody Valentine played last year, looks like a planetarium (at one point during the set, parts of the ceiling fell like cancer-causing snow around our feet). Also, if you opt to stay in the hotel itself, you can run to your weirdly pink and patchwork room between sets. Or take a walk around the less-than-majestic lake. Or a dip in the oddball indoor concrete pool conveniently located next to the Deep End bar. So, yeah, we love Kutsher's. Like last year, the '09 lineup's also not so shabby. We won't even mind missing Mad Men for it. To celebrate our mountain retreat, we've put together a brief (and partial) itinerary along with a bunch of ATP-related MP3s for you to listen to when you're not playing tennis.Continue reading ATP Rocks The Catskills This Weekend...

Toronto - I will be the first to admit, I don’t really “get” Animal Collective. I know a lot of Queen street rayban wearing vintage clothes hipsters think they are the next coming of Jesus but I never really got into their music. I did listen to Panda Bear quite a bit last year, but still, I don’t really know what all the hype is about. However, that might all change soon enough - I love this song by them. It’s got the word “Summer” in the title and it sounds like a good summer happy tune. The Dam-Funk remix strips away some of the distortive noises, adds a nice drum beat and presents a more clean sound to this song. Either the original or this version, this is a great summer song.

All I have to say is WTF?! (Both angrily and figuratively)
Check out the music video:
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GxhaRgJUMl8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GxhaRgJUMl8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
I really don’t have much to say other then the aforementioned, WTF! So here are my jotted notes on this video:
The Siamese twin ice sculpture: are they dancing around it like it’s a godly idol? The sculpture also looks like it’s doing the Tango.
The Bubble women: are they in wombs? The veins make it seem like a placenta.
The two dancers in the weird costumes are totally having sex to start it. Just look at it. I replayed it 5 times, they are definitely grinding it under there. They go for some flexible action towards the end of the video.
Don’t you feel coaxed by the time it hits 2 minutes nothing meaningful happens? I mean aren’t you just fucking waiting for it?
At 2:30, they just throw a lot of images at you and at this point I’m not very impressed. I know I probably have to be on drugs to enjoy this but I’d probably run and scream if I were on anything so I wouldn’t actually “enjoy this”.
All of a sudden the bubble women have legs?!
K I just wasted 5 minutes of my time. Good song but another pointless music video even though this one is dressed up and on a little crack.

Still the best album out so far this year in my mind, Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion has a new video for the track “Summertime Clothes”. Directed by Danny Perez, the video features a performance by Brooklyn’s FLEX dance crew that is out of this world – REALLY.

Today's Bonnaroo line-up's got Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Grizzly Bear, and TV On The Radio all back to back. So basically Brooklynroo. With its nursery rhyme melody and visceral cruel summer imagery, Animal Collective's "Summertimes Clothes" is the most accessible track on an album praised for being not entirely inaccessible. The colorful, trippy video, directed by longtime collaborator Danny Perez, features pulsing lights, fire and ice, and Brooklyn's bedsheet-clad FLEX dance crew (as seen on TV) writhing inside plastic bubbles. It's sort of freaking me out! I probably shouldn't have eaten so many peanut butter cups! Anyway, my unicorn is melting so enjoy the freak show...Continue reading New Animal Collective Video - "Summertime Clothes"...
