Here We Go Magic's 2009 self-titled release just keeps hanging around in my cd decks. After we hosted Luke Temple and crew on The Laundromatinee, Only Pieces became my "jam-du-jour" and remains one of my favorite songs from this year. As others have stated, it's all just such a remarkable departure from Temple's previous stylings. The band's recent performance opening for Grizzly Bear was the highlight of that evening for me (easy, I know, I know...blasphemy, right?!). Today we have a couple nice acoustic versions of Tunnelvision and How Could I Lie? from Baeble Music. This June 30th at Radio Radio, MOKB Presents...Here We Go Magic + Heavy Hometown! Presale is $7 and the door will be $9. This new full band sound - pulsing, looping, reverb-laden, hypnotic avant-pop/psychedelia - has brought him to the forefront of the indie music/blog world rather quickly. The songs are timely and seem to easily fit in with contemporaries like No Age and Deerhunter, but there is a greater softness - more beauty and more emotion. When they stopped by The Pop Machine studio to record with My Old Kentucky Blog 's Laundromatinee.com project, they shared two cuts from the new album as well as an unreleased song. Here We Go Magic - (It's A) Suprise (unreleased and live on The Laundromatinee.com)Watch three in-studio videos and download the tracks for each at The Laundromatinee.comAlso : Be sure to catch HWGM on June 9th at The Buskirk-Chumley Theater as Spirit of '68 and MyOldKentuckyBlog.com present...Grizzly Bear + Here We Go Magic!
